The bastards have broken the old wooden horse you used to ride in the park where we met
The bench where we first kissed is now locked in chains ‘cause you can’t trust nobody these days

They keep vandalising the statues of victims whose names they won’t bother to learn
There’s broken glass all around the swing and the slide
Some days I just want to let go of this evil inside

That haunted mansion we were always banned from was set on fire last night
They punctured the wheels of the abandoned Trans Am I was gonna drive to get away
They’re still racing mad on their suicide cars each Friday night by the seaside
And I can’t even call to your phone booth ‘cause they just cut the wires
Some days I just want to let go of this evil inside

The waters keep rising, the wetlands keep drying and the fish are all choking on coke
They spit on my doorstep, they park on my driveway and push me away with their smoke
The blind ones can see it, the deaf ones can feel it but the cynics keep blaming the sun
They laugh at the buskers who sing in the cold every night
Some days I just want to let go of this evil inside
Some days I just want to let go of this evil inside
